Here's the "story" from the news...

More than 1,000 police officers swooped into 100 homes and made 125 arrests Wednesday in a GTA-wide gang sweep which targeted thugs involved in the drug and gun trade.

Heavily armed police focused their efforts on two gangs: the MNE, short for Markham and Eglinton, and the 400 Crew, based at 400 McCowan Rd.

"There were many dangerous people" in the places police raided, said Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair, who added that tactical teams from across southern and central Ontario were brought in to augment the efforts of local police.

Among the firearms seized were two AK-47s. Large amounts of cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana were also seized.

Investigators laid a slew of charges, including gangsterism and attempt murder.

Project Fusion began in the middle of last year, and focused on a series of violent crimes dating to 2003. It is alleged that those targeted by the cops are leaders, members or associates of the two gangs. Investigators alleged the two criminal organizations work together.

Police targeted homes and vehicles in Toronto, York, Durham and Peel regions.

Here's a breakdown of what was seized by police:

• 34 handguns,

• Two AK-47 rifles

• A Cobra 11 machine pistol
